Tensile properties

The tensile strength is as high as 70MPa, and the elongation at break can be as high as 1000%.

Tear performance

When the elastomer is applied, the damage caused by the expansion of the crack is called tearing. The tearing strength is the ability of the material to resist tearing; in general, TPU has higher tearing resistance, and the tearing strength is similar to some commonly used ones. The comparison of rubber and plastics is very excellent.

Flexural performance

Many plastic materials are prone to fracture under repeated periodic stress. TPU products can maintain excellent inflection resistance under different environments, making it one of the best choices among polymer materials.

Hydrolysis resistance

TPU has good water resistance under turbidity and will not undergo obvious hydrolysis within 1 to 2 years, especially the polyether series is better. Polyester series will be completely decomposed when soaked in water at 50°C for half a year or soaked at 70°C for 3 weeks or soaked at 100°C for 3 to 4 days. This is one of the reasons why TPU is suitable as an environmentally friendly material. Products that require frequent contact with water. It is recommended to use polyether series.

High temperature resistance and oxidation resistance

General plastic materials are prone to oxidation in an environment above 70°C for a long time, and TPU has good oxidation resistance; generally speaking, TPU has a temperature resistance of up to 120°C.

Oil and chemical resistance

TPU is a highly polar polymer material, which has little affinity with non-polar mineral oil. It is almost used in fuel oil (such as kerosene, gasoline) and mechanical oil (such as hydraulic oil, engine oil, lubricating oil, etc.). It is not corroded; among them, the polyester series of TPU products have better oil resistance; TPU films and sheets have little change in the volume of grease, and the tensile strength is even higher than the original initial value; If the mineral oil contains a small amount of water, it will have varying degrees of negative effects on the physical properties of the film.

Low temperature performance

TPU has very good low temperature resistance, usually reaching -50°C, which can replace general PVC in various fields that cannot be used due to low temperature embrittlement. It is especially suitable for use in cold zone related products.

Air tightness

TPU is very easy to use high frequency or hot pressure to weld, so it is widely used in inflatable products. The gas coefficient refers to the rate of gas permeating a specified area of a sample under a certain temperature and pressure. The permeability of the same material to different gases sometimes varies greatly. Generally speaking, the air tightness of polyester series products is better than that of polyether series.

Biomedical performance

TPU has excellent biocompatibility, non-toxicity, no allergic reaction, no local irritation, no pyrogen, so it is widely used in medical, health and other related products as well as sports and protective equipment.
